TB7500 Series Ultra-Low-Height High Temperature Thermal Barriers

The TB7500 series has been designed using processes and materials developed for use in protecting F1 racing cars from the heat of the engine. The smallest of the barriers provides 10 minutes protection at 650°C/1202°F in a package only 29 mm (1.14 inches) high. This enables users for the first time to profile the "shake and bake" tempering furnaces used in the flat glass industry.

  • Used in applications up to 1150°C/2102°F
  • Inconel distortion free outer case ensures long operating life
  • Exterior surfaces are ceramic coated to protect furnace rollers
  • Sliding tray and heatsink speed up logger removal
  • Doors can be locked, preventing heat entry even when operated on oscillating rollers

TB4000 Series Thermal Barriers

These barriers work in two stages to keep the logger at a safe working temperature as it travels through the process. Microporous insulation slows down the passage of heat. The second insulation stage features a unique heat sink with phase-change material that maintains an internal temperature of 58°C/136°F.

  • Operating temperature up to 850°C/1560°F
  • Rugged 304 stainless steel construction
  • Microporous insulation provides the best thermal protection of any known material
  • Various heights available to meet limited clearances
  • Wear strips minimize maintenance costs
  • Environmentally preferred mullite textile barrier lining

TB4900 Series Thermal Barriers

Uniquely designed for exceptional durability and thermal resistance, the 4900 Series Thermal Barriers are made entirely of high quality 310 stainless steel and feature Datapaq Floating Plate® technology. These long lasting barriers resist oxidation and distortion better than ever before.

The 4900 series of barriers are ideal for applications, such as annealing, aluminum or stainless steel brazing, frit sealing and annealing, and steel heat treatment processes.

  • Operating temperature up to 1000°C/1832°F
  • One way lid and base alignment avoids thermocouple damage
  • User replaceable and mullite textile wear strips minimize maintenance costs
  • Rounded edges on barrier lid and base alleviate effects of thermal stress
  • Environmentally safe mullite textile barrier lining
  • Optional stand to avoid distortion, i.e. due to differential thermal contraction if a hot barrier is placed on a cold floor

For high pressure gas quench applications and high vacuum processes, TB9840D heat sink should be used with the TB4900 series.

TB4500 Series Thermal Barriers

Built for the vacuum carburising furnaces where repeated high pressure gas quench are vital to monitor, the Datapaq® 4500 Series thermal barriers have been designed to operate at high temperatures up to 1000°C/1832°F, through repeated heating and cooling cycles, giving maximum protection to the data logger.

The TB4500 series barrier incorporates several new design features, including additional strengthening at critical points, removable gas quench deflector shields and taper lock catches.

  • Taper lock catches ensure easy and positive locking and unlocking of the barrier lid to the base. Eliminates the need for threaded catches, which may be prone to high temperature seizure.
  • Barrier strengthening at 8 points on both lid and base minimizes barrier distortion at critical points, ensuring a positive barrier seal for maximum protection of the data logger.
  • High quality stainless steel casing for maximum protection in carburizing atmospheres
  • Removable Quench Deflector Shields to minimize barrier distortion during rapid cooling periods
  • Gas flow venting through insulation layers and heat sink holders to instantly equalize pressure during a gas quench to prevent internal barrier damage
  • Heat sink pressure lock filler points to prevent damage through pressurizing

For high pressure gas quench applications and high vacuum processes, TB9840D heat sink should be used with the TB4500 series.

TB4600 Series Thermal Barriers

Built specifically for high temperature operation in vacuum furnaces, the Datapaq 4600 Series thermal barriers have been designed to operate at temperatures of up to 1200°C/2190°F.

The 4600 Series barriers are designed to withstand repeated heating and cooling cycles, providing maximum protection to the data logger.

  • High grade reinforced Inconel casing for maximum protection at high temperatures (up to 1200°C/2190°F), with minimal barrier casing distortion
  • Barrier strengthening on both lid and base minimizes barrier distortion at critical points, ensuring a positive barrier seal for maximum protection of the data logger
  • Quench Deflector Shields minimize barrier distortion during rapid cooling periods
  • Gas flow venting through insulation layers and heat sink holders instantly equalize pressure during a gas quench to prevent internal barrier damage
  • High grade robust alumina reinforced microporous insulation allows repeated operation at high furnace temperatures (up to 1200°C/2190°F)

For high pressure gas quench applications and high vacuum processes, TB9840D heat sink should be used with the TB4600 series.

Slab Reheat Thermal Barriers

This thermal barrier designed for slab reheat applications contains various layers of insulation, which slow down the passage of heat and create a temperature gradient within the system.

Billet Reheat Thermal Barriers

This thermal barrier is designed specifically for the reheat of billets before rolling into wire or piercing for tubes.

Water/Polymer Quench Barriers

Using a rechargeable thermal barrier surrounded by a blanket of fiber insulation, this barrier protects up to 20 hrs @ 550°C/1000°F.  

A special internal barrier allows the system to pass through a full water or polymer quench tank, which normally follows the solution treatment furnace.

  • High thermal capacity
  • Low height essential for furnaces where clearance is limited
  • Unique recharging method for boosting thermal capacity in the aging furnace
  • Rugged perforated stainless steel frame allows fast water drainage after quench

VB2000 Series Vacuum Process Thermal Barriers

Designed specifically for use in vacuum processes the VB2000 range of thermal barriers use an entirely new approach to providing the thermal protection required by the data-logger. These thermal barriers feature an all metal construction ensuring that outgassing is reduced to an absolute minimum. Operating in processes ranging from a few minutes to many hours and from 100°C/212ºF up to 700°C/1292ºF this unique range of thermal barriers is typically used in sputter coating and vacuum brazing processes.

  • No outgassing thus ensuring no disruption to normal production
  • Stainless steel construction - no polluting of the process chambers
  • Rapid cool down for re-use
  • A range of sizes, from the very lowest height at only 18 mm (0.71 inches) ensure they can be used in the most height limited applications
  • For high temperature applications the outer surfaces are ceramic coated to ensure performance is not degraded even with frequent use

VB1100 Barriers for Aluminum Brazing in Vacuum Furnaces
This thermal barrier features a unique design and is completely enclosed to eliminate out-gassing from the insulation, while minimizing heat transfer to the data logger through conduction and radiation.
  • High thermal capacity to suit the longest brazing processes
  • Manufactured from high grade stainless steel to resist harsh furnace conditions

Rotating Water Barriers

Designed to fit inside steel pipes or attach to aluminum logs, the Phased Evaporation Barrier is capable of rotating with the product in the homogenizing furnace and withstanding water quench.

Lightweight and easy-to-use, the CAB Surveyor barrier makes the Datapaq temperature profiling system ideal for daily use as an instant quality check. This multi-purpose barrier can be removed from the Surveyor Arms for use with a regular Datapaq profiling system.
